Triptych:A Tour of Modern Parisin Three Parts
Three exhibitions on view in St. Louis showcase the ways in which photographs, fashion, posters, and sculptures capture the nightlife and cultural values of late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century Paris. Join Elizabeth Childs, Etta and Mark Steinberg Professor of Art History at Washington University in St. Louis; Simon Kelly, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Saint Louis Art Museum; and Tamara Schenkenberg, Associate Curator at the Pulitzer Arts Foundation, on a three-part discussion of modern art in Paris during this unique period.
A shuttle will be provided to take visitors to each location, leaving the Pulitzer at 9:00 am. The tour begins at the Saint Louis Art Museum with Degas, Impressionism, and the Paris Millinery Trade, then travels to the Kemper for a discussion of Spectacle and Leisure in Paris: Degas to Mucha, and closes at the Pulitzer with Medardo Rosso: Experiments in Light and Form, including lunch with the curators.
The cost for this program is $20 for adults and $10 for students. Please register with the Pulitzer Arts Foundation at firstname.lastname@example.org. For more information on these exhibitions and related programs and tours, please visit the websites of each institution.
